Wastewater treatment

Treatment as a source of resources

Paradigm shift
in wastewater treatment

Wastewater treatment is based on eliminating all residues that have accumulated in wastewater, returning it to the environment in optimum conditions, to protect aquatic ecosystems, avoid risks to public health, and obtain water that is suitable for reuse.

Recent years have seen the adoption of the concept of self-sufficient or even net-producing wastewater treatment plants, in terms of both energy and resources, thus ensuring resources for future generations and protection of the environment.

Key figures for all WWTPs managed by Aguas de Murcia

Water treated 43.840.202 m3/year
Solar energy 421.103 kW/year
Energy cogeneration 5.564.911 kW/year
Agricultural sludge 15.856.440 Kg MF/year
Sludge composting 12.646.660 Kg MF/year
Biogas production 2.568.075 Nm3/year
