>>> Company >>> Aguas de Murcia

The City Council of Murcia has always been concerned about efficiency in managing the water cycle, having to balance scarce water resources with a steady development of the city. But it was in 1989 when it decided to take the lead on an issue of such importance, and proposed setting up a company to manage local public services supply, sanitation and water treatment. Thus Aguas de Murcia was born, the joint venture service company, 51% owned by the City of Murcia, the Department of Services, and 49% by Aquagest, Agbar Group company, the private partner that brings expertise, know-how and professionalism, as it is the first private operator of urban water management in Spain and one of the world leaders in the industry.
AGUAS DE MURCIA manages the water cycle in the municipality of Murcia. Therefore, serving nearly 439,033 people divided between the urban centre, the surrounding countryside and villages covering more than 890 square Km.
